The Hera spacecraft recently captured new images of Mars and its moon Deimos during a flyby on March 12, 2025.Hera used the flyby of Mars to gain a gravity assist to propel it to its final destination, the asteroid Didymos.Hera came within 3,000 miles of Mars and 620 miles of Deimos, obtaining excellent images despite its high speed. The spacecraft is on its way to study the aftermath of the DART mission and is expected to reach Didymos and its moon Dimorphos in about two years.
