Canadian regulator fines Binance $4.4M for AML and CFT violations
- The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) has imposed a $4.4 million penalty on Binance for AML and CFT violations.

Behind-the-scenes of ChainZoku — Episode 3: 3D Challenges
- Miinded co-founder and lead developer EKCO delved into the 3D challenges the firm faced when developing customizable and evolving NFT ChainZokus.
- A major obstacle was to find a way to generate a 2D image of each Zoku image as quickly as possible, whenever the user decides to add or remove a piece of gear. Miinded no stranger to real-time 2D image generation was up for the task.
- A stack of PNG images representing the various traits of the NFT was used to create a complete image, but it was not the best for 3D.
- Miinded had to opt for another approach, every 3D object was placed in a 3-dimensional space in the same blender file the 3D artist used by precise placement, reducing the risk of error in the long run.
- Blender file size was a problem, so they divided the 3D Objects into different Blender files to reduce the weight of the Blender file while maintaining the correct positions of the 3D Objects. By the time of launch, there were seven Blender files of around 10 GB each, which is manageable.
- Miinded created a blank Blender file containing only the pre-configured lights, imported the 3D Objects corresponding to the Zoku Assets one by one, and rendered the image via a Python script executed by Blender.
- Rendering times of less than 10 seconds are technically possible to reach, but given the cost of render farms and servers, they decided not to. Currently, rendering is done by a server specialized in 3D rendering with a GPU hosted at a data center in Paris.
- Miinded has developed a bespoke code and server interface to keep costs as low as possible.
- The server has done 5,035 customizations, on top of having rendered every single original Zoku.
- Miinded's last collaborations include Pudgy Penguins, the Sandbox, Snoop Dogg, MekaVerse and ChainZoku.
