A survey conducted by Life Skill Collaborative reveals that only 4 out of 10 youth in India are aware of '21st-century skills' or 'life skills'. These skills, crucial for success in the modern world, encompass critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and cultural awareness.
Older youth (19-22) show greater awareness than younger counterparts (14-18). The survey, covering 15,856 youth, indicates that even when youth claim knowledge of life skills, they often confuse them with vocational skills.
While most are familiar with specific terms, 'resilience' and 'critical thinking' pose challenges. The findings emphasize the need for initiatives in public education to impart life skills.
