Sony Interactive Entertainment confirms that the PS5 has more monthly players than the PS4 for the first time.
The PS5 has surpassed monthly active users of the PS4 according to a recent business segment.
In the previous year, there was an even split between PS5 and PS4 monthly users, but now PS5 has taken the lead.
Combined monthly users for PS5 and PS4 have reached 124 million, up from 97 million last year.
Hideaki Nishino, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, highlighted that PS5 players are highly engaged and spend more on content and services.
The PlayStation 4 still serves as an important access point for existing players, according to Nishino.
During the presentation, Nishino mentioned that Sony is focused on the future of PlayStation hardware, hinting at upcoming plans without discussing the PS6 yet.
