Qualcomm and Google announced extended support for Snapdragon 8 and 7-series chipsets, allowing for up to 8 years of software and security updates on Android devices.
This move by Qualcomm promotes device longevity, sustainability, and provides access to the latest version of Android for 8 years.
The program will cover the next five generations of Qualcomm Technologies ASICs and Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered smartphones launching with Android 15 will be the first to benefit.
It will be up to the OEMs to deliver these extended updates, but it is likely that Samsung and Google will take advantage of the program.
