Quest v72 Brings Hand Tracking 2.3, Passthrough Keyboard Cutout & More

- The new hand tracking model called Hand Tracking 2.3 will be gradually rolling out with enhanced stability, accuracy, and ease of use.
- An indicator will be added to the system menu bar when Travel Mode is enabled on Quest v72 to prevent tracking issues.
- The new Passthrough Keyboard Cutout will track any keyboard-looking object within its view, even those not connected for passthrough cutout.
- Quest v72 has a new Gallery app that provides easy access to any videos, photos, screenshots, and more.
- In addition to the group captioning option, Quest v72 has added Call Captions to allow users to check a live transcript of what others on the call are saying.
- Quest 3 headsets in v72 will now be loaded into a stationary boundary by default in a frictionless home environment.
- Instagram app on Horizon OS gets direct messages with Quest v72.
- Meta's Messenger and WhatsApp apps are already available on Horizon OS, so this completes its messaging trifecta.
- Meta continues to improve the controller-free hand tracking since adding it to the original Oculus Quest more than five years ago with unannounced improvements throughout the year.
