Reddit has experienced a significant drop in copyright removals, reaching a multi-year low.
In 2023, rightsholders requested the removal of over 1.7 million pieces of content from Reddit. However, last year, this number decreased by approximately 50% to 879,645.
The actions taken by Reddit in response to takedown requests also decreased, from 1.2 million removals a year earlier to 550,554 last year.
The company declined to remove certain content, deeming it as fair use, including a unique case where an AI-generated parody was classified as fair use.
