Half of U.S. adults acknowledge the health benefits of consuming a plant-based diet, aiming to improve overall health and prevent chronic diseases, as per a recent survey conducted by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine/Morning Consult.
Although 50% of adults are aware of the advantages of plant-based eating, only 20% of primary care practitioners actively discuss this beneficial message with their patients.
The survey results, based on 2,203 U.S. adults, revealed that 65% of respondents expressed their willingness to transition to a plant-based diet upon seeing evidence of its benefits.
Various studies suggest that plant-based diets, rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, are linked to lower risks of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and subsequently reduce the potential for early death.
