Samsung has been fined $117.7 million in a patent infringement case by the U.S. District Court in Texarkana, Texas.
Maxell, the plaintiff in the case, accused Samsung of violating its patents related to Galaxy smartphone and tablet unlocking tech, data management, and smart home platforms.
Samsung had previously licensed Maxell's patents for ten years starting in 2011, but continued using the patented tech after the agreement expired in 2021.
Despite the verdict, Samsung has the option to appeal the decision to a higher court, indicating that the legal battle is not yet resolved.
