Sony is reportedly planning to outsource the manufacturing of its high-end smartphones to third-party manufacturers.
This move is seen as a long-term strategy, as Sony's own production sites no longer list 'smartphones' among their devices in Thailand.
Historically, Sony had three manufacturing sites involved in smartphone production, but none of them currently include smartphones in their production.
The recently released Xperia 1 VII is reported to be the first phone assembled by a third-party maker, with no noticeable changes in build quality.
