Sony Interactive Entertainment's new CFO, Lin Tao, has announced a shift in focus from hardware sell-in units to monthly active users (MAU).
The company aims to prioritize engagement and profitability by concentrating on MAU as a key metric going forward.
Sony plans to enhance control over first-party spending and expects growth in PS5's install base, with many new users joining the hardware ecosystem.
The company also disclosed that the PS5 has shipped 77.8 million units globally and is evaluating responses to potential impacts of US tariffs on its yearly operating income.
