Spotify may be on the verge of launching its HiFi lossless audio streaming feature, as hidden references have been found in the app's latest version.
The discovery was made by the team behind Spicetify, revealing mentions of 'lossless' audio quality in the app's device connection menu and streaming quality settings.
Further evidence in the app's code suggests support for lossless audio on Spotify Connect and the web version, hinting at an imminent release in an upcoming update.
Initially announced in 2021, the HiFi feature was delayed but is now reportedly in its final stages of preparation for launch by the end of 2025.
Spotify's CEO hinted at a 'deluxe' version called 'Music Pro', expected to include high-resolution audio among other features.
If launched, the HiFi plan could be a premium add-on priced around $5.99 on top of existing subscription plans, matching competitors like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal.
