SQL Server 2025 – Retirement of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Microsoft has announced the retirement of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and will no longer provide new versions.
  • The latest available version of SSRS is 2022 and will be supported until January 11, 2033.
  • SSRS users can continue to use the service and host databases on a recent version of SQL Server.
  • The replacement for SSRS is Power BI Report Server (PBIRS), which clients have been adopting.
  • Options for migrating from SSRS to PBIRS include migrating databases, using the RDL Migration Tool, or utilizing the Reporting Services PowerShell API.
  • For users of SSRS 2022 wanting to migrate to Power BI Report Server, as of now, it is not possible according to documentation.
