Samsung may introduce stainless steel “SUS CAN” batteries in its upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup to improve energy density and charging.
These batteries are expected to address swelling issues and assist in meeting future EU regulations mandating user-replaceable batteries by 2027.
This marks a departure from the traditional Lithium-ion pouch cells used by current major brands, although it's not the silicon-carbon technology many were anticipating.
Samsung's potential move to these innovative batteries could offer a significant increase in battery capacity for the Galaxy S26 series, providing an alternative to silicon-carbon technology.
