Google is working on enhanced factory reset protections for Android phones to make them more secure from thieves.
The new update will make stolen Android phones difficult to use, essentially bricking them unless the original owner authorizes access.
The feature, called Factory Reset Protection (FRP), will require the owner's authorization for the device to function after a reset, enhancing security.
Google plans to further harden Factory Reset protections, restricting functionalities on devices reset without the owner's authorization, with the update expected later this year.
