Scientists have created a new energy-efficient and recyclable artificial vision system using honey as an electrolyte.
The system, called Electrolyte-Gated Organic Field-Effect Transistor (EGOFET), combines sensing light, processing information, and memory storage in a single device, mimicking the way the human brain functions.
The EGOFET system requires very little energy, making it ideal for applications such as self-driving drones and smart security systems.
The organic components of the system, including the honey, will biodegrade naturally, contributing to a more sustainable technology.
