When applying for a job, many experts suggest tailoring your resume to each job description. However, James Hudson, former head of talent acquisition at Nike, disagrees.
He argues that customizing resumes for every role is "a waste of time." Hudson explains that job descriptions are often managed by compensation teams and may not reflect a hiring manager's actual needs.
Instead, he advises having one stellar resume that highlights your unique career journey. Focus on recent experiences, detailing responsibilities and results using the formula: “Accomplished X as measured by Y by doing Z.” This approach, he believes, better showcases your qualifications and fit for the role.
