Apple's iPhone OS surpasses Windows Mobile in the United States for the first time, according to research firm Comscore.
At the time, Research in Motion's BlackBerry operating system was the leader, followed by iPhone OS, Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Symbian, and Google's Android.
This marked a turning point in tech as Apple overtook Microsoft in market capitalization and Microsoft later dropped Windows Mobile.
Currently, iOS holds 54.91% of the US market, while Android has 44.89%, with other systems representing less than 1% of the market.
