Researchers from Japan pioneer a technology that uses real-world doors to connect the real and virtual worlds
A collaborative research team from NTT DOCOMO, Inc. and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) developed a novel mixed reality (MR) technology that enables seamless transitions between physical and virtual spaces using real-world doors.
The technology allows users to select a real-world door within their MR interface, and as the door is opened, a virtual space is dynamically rendered, creating a natural transition.
The transformative potential of this technology includes applications in tourism, real estate, entertainment, and art industries, where physical spaces become gateways to rich virtual worlds.
