U.S. President Donald Trump expressed disapproval of Apple's manufacturing investments in India during a conversation with Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Apple has been shifting some of its iPhone manufacturing capacity to India, with suppliers currently assembling 10% to 15% of Apple's smartphones in the country.
Apple is expected to continue expanding its manufacturing capacity in India, aiming to have most iPhones sold in the U.S. produced in India by the end of 2026.
Trump cited Apple's previous investments in the U.S. while expressing concern over the company's expansion in India, stating that he prefers Apple to build in the U.S. rather than in India.
