Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has halted chip supply to an unidentified customer after discovering that one of its chips supplied to the client ended up in a Huawei product.
TSMC had informed the United States about a potential attempt by Huawei to bypass US export controls prohibiting the chipmaker from producing AI chips for the Chinese company.
The chip in question is believed to be Huawei's Ascend 910B, which is considered the most advanced AI chip from a Chinese company.
TSMC has suspended shipments and initiated an investigation, notifying both the US and Taiwanese governments about the issue.
