UBE's subsidiary, UBE C1 Chemical America, has started construction of a dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) plant in Louisiana.
The plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of DMC and 40,000 tons of EMC derived from DMC.
Scheduled for completion in July 2026, the plant is expected to begin operation in November of the same year.
UBE's new plant will employ a gas-phase nitrite process to produce DMC, resulting in lower energy consumption, higher quality, and fewer by-products and impurities.
