<ul><li>The US has implemented a blacklisting of 50 Chinese companies, in the first such effort by the Trump administration to curtail China in the artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced computing arena.</li><li>The US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has added a total of 80 entities to the Entity List for activities contrary to US national security and foreign policy.</li><li>The additions to the Entity List include entities engaged in the development of advanced AI, supercomputers, high-performance AI chips, and unsafeguarded nuclear activities.</li><li>The blacklisting comes amid rising tensions between the US and China, with the Trump administration implementing export restrictions and China condemning the action.</li></ul>
