visionOS Is Getting Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Device Support

  • Apple Vision Pro's visionOS will support brain-computer interface (BCI) input devices later this year, starting with Synchron's.
  • BCI devices will be supported via a new BCI HID protocol, part of Switch Control on iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS.
  • Other new accessibility features coming to Vision Pro include the ability to magnify passthrough and use on-device AI for describing, finding, or reading anything in view.
  • Synchron's Stentrode implant, inserted through the jugular vein, will be the first to support Apple's new protocol for BCI input on Vision Pro.
