Tesla has shared a video of the first Model Y autonomously delivering itself to its owner from the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
The self-delivered Model Y in Quicksilver color completed a 30-minute journey without any human present inside or remote control from Tesla, showcasing the capabilities of Tesla's autonomous driving technology.
The vehicle, equipped with the latest hardware and software, reached a max speed of 72 mph during the delivery, demonstrating its ability to handle various traffic scenarios.
Autonomous customer deliveries in Austin, Texas, are part of Tesla's progress towards Unsupervised Full Self-Driving, although the vehicle will have the same software version as other Tesla owners in the fleet post-delivery.
