WhatsApp has released a major update, bringing new features and improvements across calls, group chats, events, channels, and more.
New features include online indicators, tappable reactions in group chats, the ability to create events in one-on-one conversations, a built-in QR code scanner, and the option to set WhatsApp as the default messaging and calling app on iPhones.
In terms of call features, WhatsApp now supports pinch to zoom on video calls, allows users to add another party to a call in progress, and claims to have improved call reliability and video quality.
WhatsApp's rivals, such as Apple's iMessage, have lagged behind in terms of new features and capabilities.
