Heman Bekele won America's Top Young Scientist award by creating a soap that aims to heal skin cancer.
He is a ninth-grader at WT Woodson High School in Virginia and is passionate about medicine and programming.
Bekele's soap, called Skin Cancer-Treating Soap (SCTS), costs just $0.50, making it an affordable alternative to traditional treatments.
He plans to improve the soap further and establish a non-profit organization to distribute it in underserved areas, especially in developing countries where skin cancer is prevalent.
