Xiaomi has announced the 'Xring O1,' a custom 3nm chip designed to rival Apple silicon.
The company plans to shift its devices to custom silicon chips similar to Apple, starting with three devices including the Xiaomi Tablet 7 Ultra.
The Xring O1 chip, made with a 3nm fabrication process, will compete with Apple's latest chips, although it may lag in some aspects such as processor clock speed.
Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun stated at a Beijing event that the company will invest $27.8 billion in research and development over the next five years, with a significant portion dedicated to enhancing its chip technology.
