Images captured by NASA's Chandra X-ray observatory show that a black hole's jet in the galaxy Centaurus A has struck a nearby object. The target is believed to be a giant star or a binary system, resulting in increased density and X-ray emissions.Black holes at the center of galaxies, including the one in Centaurus A, have immense gravitational pull and form accretion disks that generate jets. The collision between the particles in the jet and the stellar wind from the object has caused the observed X-ray emissions.
