Only 0.2% of India's population, approximately 50 lakh people, are engaged in gym activities, according to data shared by Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha.
Kamath emphasized the importance of strength training, particularly for older adults, as it becomes critical for maintaining health and an active lifestyle.
He mentioned that exercise, including strength training, is proven to be effective in delaying death, preventing cognitive and physical decline.
Kamath encouraged the use of open-air gyms and alternative exercises like yoga or free-hand exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and crunches, to promote strength training and overall health.
