Zoho, an Indian SaaS major, is developing its own large language model (LLM) similar to OpenAI's GPT and Google's PaLM 2 models.
The project is overseen by Zoho's founder and CEO, Sridhar Vembu, and is being worked on by the company's R&D team in India.
Zoho's LLM will be capable of summarizing, paraphrasing, and adapting to new tasks, in addition to integrating with their existing apps.
The decision to build LLMs comes after a controversy surrounding comments made by OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, with Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar expressing disagreement with Altman's remarks on India's AI aspirations.
