Water Level In Major Mumbai Lakes Rises To 71%; Modak Sagar, Middle Vaitarna Nearly Full
- Water levels in major Mumbai lakes have risen to 71%, with Modak Sagar and Middle Vaitarna lakes nearly full as per BMC data.
- The seven water-supplying lakes in Mumbai can hold 14,47,363 million litres of water, with their combined capacity currently at nearly 10,30,218 million litres.
- Amid heavy monsoon rains, the Middle Vaitarna lake has reached 93.47% capacity, witnessing a significant rise in water levels, leading to the opening of dam gates to store water in Modak Sagar.
- With most lakes above 60% capacity, except Vehar and Tulsi, which are below, the IMD predicts moderate to very heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Goa, and the Konkan region, potentially causing further water level rises.
