- The game can still be an accessible hero shooter for those who don't care about Competitive Stuff.
- The fact that the heroes are just regular-shaped people in costumes or small animals and hard to identify can make matches slightly formless and blended.
- It's an immense game with a wider audience, and if you're looking for The Next Competitive Timesink, it hit me that this probably isn't it.
- Marvel Rivals does offer something new to the table if only thanks to its Marvel skins and partnerships; for most people, it'll be an enjoyable experience.

Digital Extremes’ team is bravely letting me e-date Warframe 1999 baddies
- Warframe 1999, the new expansion of Warframe, is going to have a romance system. In this latest feature, the game’s protagonist will meet a group of characters with whom he/she can explore a contextual romance systemand spend New Year's Eve with. Each member of the Hex has their own type of typing style; each of them can also smooch the protagonist. The romance system in Warframe 1999 is opt-in impermanent, so the game's developer has given players the opportunity to put their foot in their mouth or say something rude. The developer of Warframe was insipred by Stardew Valley, Baldur's Gate 3, and Fire Emblem when designing the romantic experience.
- The relationship between the protagonist and the Hex is not just about sweetness and light. The protagonist enters their lives with some heavy alternate-universe lore that makes them question everything they know. The romance system offers no cosmetic or gameplay rewards, only a new custom dialogue. The plot is further complicated when Drifter returns to the present after meeting the Hex.
- The player can revisit and redo the events of Warframe 1999, so a decision might determine a specific campaign event, but no permanent choices. The developer wanted to make sure the players had complete freedom to explore and click choices without the risk of locking into any permanent choices. This is different from other live service games with a romance system and according to Ford, none of them offer this feature.
- Kathryn Kingsley, former romance author, and game designer joined Digital Extremes to work on this feature. She also reached out to Warframe fans to get a better feel for the Warframe universe. Building a storyline depending on established lore can be challenging, but Digital Extremes felt comfortable taking risks and allowing players to say something rude or inappropriate.
- Warframe 1999 is expected to be available free on all platforms starting December with a demo that can be played on Warframe. Digital Extremes is developing Soulframe, another open-world game focused on slow combat and a big Elden Ring vibe.
