- New Fund Offerings (NFOs) may not be suitable for all investor portfolios despite the strong traction it has among investors.
- Investors have poured their money into NFOs in hopes of a cost advantage and more, despite it not being an advantageous option.
- Fund houses have multiple channels, marketing strategies and buzz during launches to gain visibility and lure new investors.
- Fresh capital coming can also be a reason for inflow into NFOs compared to existing schemes.
- The expense ratio of NFOs may be similar to existing schemes, and there is no cost advantage to these schemes, as this depends on the issue size.
- The advertised cost advantage of NFOs may not exist due to lower NAV despite the investor getting allocated double the number of units due to lower NAV.
- New Fund Offerings do not come with data on performance and consistency and could be a new strategy or from the same asset class as the investor's current mutual fund investments.
- The notion that NFOs and IPOs are similar is false, as an initial public offering raises money for its use and an NFO raises money to run a mutual fund scheme.
- Buying NFOs may not be ideal but NFOs are not altogether bad nor good and buying NFO requires proper consideration of its advantages and risks.
- Investors should evaluate NFOs go beyond the buzz and marketing to determine whether it fits their financial goals and portfolio.

Rise With Profit: US Retail Inflation, SEBI Proposal On AI, Tax Returns Rise | Podcast
- US retail inflation for October stood at 2.6% in line with consensus estimates, compared to a rise of 2.4% in September, progress towards meeting the Federal Reserve’s inflation target of 2% has slowed.

- India's tax return filings rose by 120% over the past decade to 79m this year, according to a report by NDTV.
- Aggregated cash holdings in actively managed Indian equity schemes fell 0.3% to 5% in October, as fund managers dipped into cash holdings to help retail investors buy into equities after the recent sell-off in markets.
- Within the figures, cash holdings in actively managed small cap equity funds fell more sharply, from 9.4% in September to 6.2% last month, as the funds took positions in various stocks that became attractive after the recent market correction.
- The aggregate cash managed by the asset management industry also increased by INR9,000 crore ($1.2bn) in October, indicating that retail investors are investing at lower prices.

S&P 500 Struggles To Extend Post-Election Advance: Markets Wrap
- Stocks wavered as speculation the market has run too far after the US election offset bets the Federal Reserve will keep cutting rates.

Pavestone marks final close of tech fund at Rs 816 crore
- Hyderabad-based venture capital firm Pavestone has raised a total corpus of INR 816 crore for its technology fund, earlier targeting INR 600 crore.
- Through the Pavestone Technology Fund, the firm plans to invest in 14-15 early growth-stage business-to-business (B2B) technology companies with an average cheque size of $5-10 million.
- Investors participating in the fundraise include The Self-Reliant India Fund (family office of Mankind Pharma promoters) and Colruyt Group India.
- 80% of the fund is focussed on enterprise technology, specifically companies that solve problems for large and public enterprises in the B2B space.
- The remaining 20% of the fund is invested in moonshot or frontier technologies.
- The sectors the fund is focusing on include generative AI, cloud computing, immersive reality, advanced connectivity, and cutting-edge engineering in areas like mobility, material science, bioengineering, and space.
- The firm has already invested in five companies, including no-code AI platform E42, in-space propulsion startup Bellatrix Aerospace, and decarbonisation platform LivNSense.
- The fund is sector-agnostic, with a focus on long-term trends like digitalisation, ESG, and global supply chain realignment.
- The firm emphasises time-tested investment principles, including conducting rigorous analysis, strong risk management, and impeccable governance as cornerstones of any fund.
