Getting systems to simulate flight behavior in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | Sebastian Wloch interview

  • The entire game can be processed in real time in the cloud with minimal storage required on the players’ computer.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 leaders worked on the project over as much as four years.
  • The simulation is like a full digital twin of the Earth and is able to simulate many different types of aircraft and many different kinds of situations, including gliders, hot air balloons, 747 airplanes, and supersonic fighter jets.
  • There are plenty of parties with the same intention of digital twins, but Sebastian Wloch believes that the use is not the same and to get the best result, one should not do something too big.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has improved by using exact data from real-life instruments for a whole other level of realism to the aircraft.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 measures the position of the sun, atmospheric pressure, cloud cover, and how much energy is transmitted on the surface while computing how much heat it creates.
  • The simulation team at Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 listens to feedback from users to improve the system to feel more realistic.
  • The cloud computing quality has been improved and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 moved almost all of the storage to the cloud with very few critical files located locally.
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 runs real-time computing locally and then pre-processes cloud computing every time they ingest new data.
  • The pipeline of data and what happens is not the same and makes an effort to rewrite systems entirely to make it cloud-based rather than running locally.
