Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2213 (Dev Channel)
- Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 build, which comes with some fixes to bugs. The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2213 (KB5045885, Dev Channel) includes various UI improvements and bug fixes. Improvements include options for hiding the IME keyboard for full-screen applications, where users are typing in Japanese or Chinese. There is now a search box for auto-hidden taskbars when the search bar is set up as a search box and not an icon.
- The new Gamepad keyboard layout has been temporarily disabled to address some issues, with plans to reintroduce it in a future flight. There have also been fixes for issues with Start menu reliability, gaps between items and app pinning, File Explorer visualization, and a task bar problem where widgets text in the taskbar might overlap the date and time for left-aligned users.
- Other issues addressed in the release are the Dev drives' accessibility in WSL, an underlying issue leading to some games not launching in the previous flight, Task manager not counting apps and processes, DHCP issues with duplicate options failing lease acquisition leading to Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and DirectAccess, which might stay stuck in a connecting state. Microsoft is still working on a fix for a desktop background issue where it doesn't show correctly with multiple monitors.
- The release comes with some reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, with updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package. Many features that Microsoft rolls out using Control Feature Rollout technology are tested on a subset of insiders and ramping up over time as Microsoft monitors feedback.
- Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out can turn on the toggle to get the latest updates. However, they should be aware that Microsoft sometimes rolls out features that may never get released as it tries out different concepts and gathers feedback. Localization for some features and experiences will happen over time as they're finalized.
- Features and experiences may be removed or replaced and may never get released beyond Windows Insiders. The Dev and Beta channels represent parallel development paths, and there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the beta channel first.
