My quest to fully remove Microsoft Edge is finally complete

  • Uninstalling Microsoft Edge is not an easy task. But there’s a way to get rid of Edge for good and replace the functions in Windows with a browser of your choice.
  • To uninstall Edge, some registry edits, a little PowerShell and some upkeep are required. This is a bit of work, but there are people who share scripts to make this easier.
  • The issue with removing Edge completely is that it disables many features within Windows. Searching will no longer pull up web results, weather in Windows won’t work and widgets will be disabled.
  • Enter MSEdgeRedirect, one of the more popular options among several apps, that redirects normal Edge functions in Windows to a user’s browser and search engine of choice. MSEdgeRedirect taps into dormant components of Edge that are still buried deep within Windows.
  • MSEdgeRedirect is simply redirecting Edge requests. It hooks into the “microsoft-edge:” handle and tells Windows to use a different browser instead of Edge.
  • MSEdgeRedirect also offers the option to redirect Bing Search, MSN Weather, MSN News, Bing Images and Bing Discover to the service you prefer.
  • MSEdgeRedirect not only removes some annoyances with Windows but also puts users in control of the services they interact with.
  • If you use MSEdgeRedirect, you can use services you want for Bing Discover, Bing Search, Bing Images, MSN News and MSN Weather. MSEdgeRedirect not only removes some annoyances with Windows; it actively makes them better by putting you in control of the services you interact with.
  • MSEdgeRedirect uses Google to populate search results in Windows search and also shows Google search history in Windows.
  • These apps get broken with updates to Windows or Edge, but they’re easy to install and give users control over how Windows works rather than forcing them to use Microsoft's services.

AI work buddies: Elevating productivity or stifling creativity?

  • AI-powered ‘work buddies’ offer numerous benefits in the workplace, such as freeing up workers to focus on strategic work, talent development, and customer engagement while taking care of routine tasks.
  • While AI is undoubtedly useful, corporate leaders are wary of its effects on essential skills. Pankaj Lochan, CHRO of Navin Fluorine, warns that excessive AI reliance may hinder independent problem-solving abilities.
  • AI works best in precision-driven sectors, such as manufacturing, where multi-skilled employees can help reduce recruitment costs.
  • Situations that require empathy and human judgment are not ones that AI can effectively handle. In HR, for example, AI can manage payroll and recruitment but lacks the sensitivity required for delicate conversations or performance evaluations.
  • While AI has many benefits, the expense of licensing and implementing AI tools often limits their usage to selective or pilot-based scenarios.
  • As more businesses adopt AI-powered systems, there are rising concerns about data security and confidentiality for companies whose competitive advantage depends on innovation.
  • Human judgment remains essential in areas such as healthcare, where individual cases need careful evaluation and nuanced decision making.
  • The future of AI in the workplace lies in blending human insight with AI-driven efficiency. Companies that strike this balance will improve operations while nurturing a workplace where AI complements human creativity and intuition.
  • AI is here to elevate human potential, not replace it, says Praveen Purohit, deputy CHRO, Vedanta Resources. Collaborating with AI will offer a dynamic, resilient, and productive
  • Organisations should strike the right balance between human insight and AI-driven efficiency in their work culture. This will foster a collaborative environment, unlocking the potential of a powerful human-AI team.

On theCUBE Pod: Election reset on tech, debunking activists slamming Jassy, enterprise AI about to boom

  • This week's discussions centered on the recent U.S. election, enterprise AI, and the scrutiny of Amazon's leadership, among others. The election's impact on the tech sector emerged as a central theme, particularly in driving market stability and optimism. Amazon's leadership, particularly CEO Andy Jassy, has faced criticism in an open letter by Blue Duck Capital LLC for his strategic choices, which has led analysts to believe that the investor group has a deep misunderstanding of Amazon's strategy.
  • Enterprise AI is emerging as a transformative force, offering the potential to drive both organizational efficiency and individual productivity. The AI boom is probably going to be a combination of both productivity booms of the 1960s and the 1990s. Challenges remain, particularly for startups struggling with resource access. GPU availability is a major bottleneck, making it hard for smaller companies to scale.
  • As enterprise AI continues to reshape industries, broader efforts such as public-private partnerships, supported by the CHIPS Act, are vital for sustaining AI growth. Analysts argue that private companies must contribute more to ensure success. The recent U.S. election has also sparked potential strategies that could reshape the US competitiveness in AI and manufacturing.
  • Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has been criticized for his strategic choices in an open letter by Blue Duck Capital LLC. Amazon's disciplined approach and long-term focus may not be well understood by investors looking for quick profits. Jassy's focus on generative AI, which is a foundational technology for sustained growth, is not appreciated by all as he has made some bold moves.
  • The intersection of technology, politics, and innovation took center stage in recent discussions. Trump's winning is perceived as signaling stability in the US, particularly for the tech sector. This certainty has already sparked optimism in the markets, with signs of IPO resurgence. Enterprise AI holds immense potential for automating workflows and unlocking value from proprietary data.
  • Many organizations have yet to fully understand and leverage AI, with many people being in this 'I don't know what I don't know' phase. Challenges remain, particularly for startups struggling with resource access, as GPU availability is a significant bottleneck, making it hard for smaller companies to scale.
  • While AI model development costs are soaring, operational expenses are plummeting, opening up new opportunities for businesses. Private companies must contribute more to ensure success in the field of AI, and a sovereign fund, Bitcoin reserve, or doubling down on the CHIPS Act could reshape US competitiveness in AI and manufacturing.

The AI boom is probably going to be a combination of both productivity booms of the 1960s and the 1990s. Challenges remain, particularly for startups struggling with resource access as GPU availability is a significant bottleneck.
  • Broad efforts such as public-private partnerships are vital for sustaining AI growth. Amazon's deliberate focus on long-term innovation rather than succumbing to the pressures of Wall Street reflects the company's confidence in its ability to sustain growth through bold investments in technology and infrastructure.
  • Private companies like Apple, Amazon, Meta, Google, and others should contribute more to ensure success in the field of AI, says Dave Vellante. As the AI industry continues to reshape industries, broader efforts such as the CHIPS Act are vital for sustaining AI growth. Analysts argue that private companies must contribute more to ensure success.
  • As enterprise AI continues to reshape industries, public-private partnerships that are supported by the CHIPS Act are vital to ensure future growth. For success in AI, private companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google, and Meta must be willing to invest in the future of AI technology.
