Amazon rolls out fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks to decarbonize more of its transportation network
- Amazon has introduced a fleet of nearly 50 heavy-duty all-electric trucks in Southern California to decarbonize its delivery operations.
- The trucks will handle first- and middle-mile operations, hauling cargo containers and customer packages with zero tailpipe emissions.
- Amazon has already deployed electric trucks at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and plans to have a dozen vehicles in use by the end of the year.
- In addition to electric trucks, Amazon is using custom electric delivery vans and investing in renewable energy and climate tech startups to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
