Audi Takes 'Painful' Decision to Close a Factory

BAIC X55, BJ40 Plus to begin CKD assembly 1Q 2025
- EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) will begin locally assembling (CKD) the BAIC X55 and BJ40 Plus models in 1Q 2025.
- Both models have been open for booking since May, with estimated starting prices of RM129,XXX for BAIC X55 and RM188,XXX for BJ40 Plus.
- EPMB signed a 10-year contract with BAIC International Development for local assembly of the models.

- The car comes with lidar sensors above the windscreen for highly automated driving on highways and city streets.

- JAC Motors has recalled 29 examples of the T9 ute due to a fault that can cause it to engage limp-home mode and lose power while driving.
- The failure of the turbo actuator module may activate limp-home mode, gradually reducing motive power and increasing the risk of an accident.
- 24 out of 29 affected vehicles have already been fixed, with the remedy procedure taking about 10-15 minutes to complete.
- Owners of the remaining 5 vehicles will be contacted for a free replacement of the turbo actuator module.

Australian state cracking down on foreign drivers exploiting licence loophole
- The New South Wales (NSW) Government and the Australian Border Force are collaborating to crackdown on foreign drivers exploiting a loophole in the demerit point system.
- Foreign drivers in Australia can currently nominate another overseas motorist if charged with a driving offence, resulting in the transfer of demerit points.
- Around 125,000 penalties carrying 256,000 demerit points were issued to nominated 'international drivers' between May 2022 and January 2024, with up to 40,000 drivers sourced from the dark web.
- To address this issue, the NSW government established the Demerit Point Integrity Taskforce, and the Australian Border Force will assist in verifying the identity of nominated drivers.
