Google fumbled what could have been its biggest product in years
- Google missed its chance to introduce a modern interpretation of Glass and a greater awareness of privacy that would have fired up our imagination at Google's I/O conference. Viewers caught a glimpse of a pair of smart glasses in Google's Project Astra demonstration, but it was only a blink-and-you-missed-it tease and was never given an introduction. Google is absent from all the smart glasses with AI capabilities currently available.
- Google pioneered the smart-glasses race more than a decade ago when it introduced Google Glass, but it was vilified to the point where it was discontinued. Times have changed, though, and what was unacceptable then isn't so problematic anymore.
- The presentation was a highlight of fascinating productivity and AI demonstrations facilitated by a smartphone or a computer, but entirely absent of any dedicated AI-centric hardware that could have fired up our imagination.
- Ray-Ban Meta glasses not only look stylish but work efficiently too, with AI integration available now. Buy them instead of waiting for Google's smart glasses.
- Meta is out there today proving that smart glasses are a fantastic wearable for AI, and it's not the only one. Solos has a range of smart glasses built around ChatGPT, and Brilliant Labs' Frame smart glasses are now reaching the faces of keen early adopters.
- Google lost its chance to introduce a more exciting and dedicated AI-centric hardware that could have shown off Gemini and AI's incredible potential. Google's procrastination over creating exciting hardware for its AI is a serious problem as others are out there capitalizing on it. Others are already moving on and experimenting with AI, which will make Google lag far behind.
- A pair of smart glasses would have made Google's software innovations enticing and exciting, but Google put it off, making others capitalize on the potential of AI and leaving it out of the competition.
- Google needs to push boundaries with its AI hardware and not let its competitors move ahead. It needs to do that now, not in several years' time when its competitors have already done it all.
- Google's lackadaisical approach to smart glasses and its competitors in the market is giving them an edge. Google had a big chance to reclaim its position as a smart-glasses innovator, but it chose to pretend that its technology was coming in the future.
- Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are readily available today with AI smarts right there at the customers' fingertips; they are not a concept or beta test, but an everyday usable product that fulfills the AI potential to the fullest.

- Consistent, albeit slow, growth is fundamental to any business. Steadily growing companies can eventually possess the potential to produce star products through good leadership, innovation, and marketing.
- Regardless of repeated rejections, it’s essential to stay true to your convictions and persist when trying to secure investment.
- If your business faces rejection, it doesn’t mean the investor is wrong or the business has no future. It’s a matter of alignment.
- Listen to constructive feedback, but don’t be swayed by superficial criticisms. Even if you face 100 rejections, the 101st attempt might be successful. It’s crucial to maintain resilience and faith in your business.
