- Microsoft has addressed two zero-day vulnerabilities known to be exploited in the wild.

- Microsoft has fixed several flaws in DoS, EoP, Information Disclosure, RCE, Security Feature Bypass, and Spoofing categories.
- CSV-2024-30040 and CSV-2024-30051 are zero-day vulnerabilities which were patched in May Patch Tuesday Edition.
- Microsoft SharePoint Server also had serious remote code execution vulnerability in May edition.
- CVE-2024-30049 is an elevation of privilege vulnerability in the Windows Win32 Kernel Subsystem.

Compiled queries under Entity Framework as a performance enhancement

- Compiled queries are compiled once and are then available for repeated use; they aren't recreated and evaluated each time they are used.
- To create a compiled query, the query is stored in a private static field and EF.CompileQueries is used to compile the query via the DBContext and submit it at the right time.
- The EF.CompileQuery function saves processing time by keeping queries in memory instead of executing it each time it is called.
- Compiled queries are executed synchronously or asynchronously and can be improved by deactivating instructions which are not needed for change tracking.
- Pre-compiled queries can return single values and are internally converted from synchronous query to asynchronous query for greater efficiency.
- Although the use of compiled queries increases the complexity of the code, they can be used wisely for a significant increase in performance.

Longtime CEO to leave Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s holding company
- Bill Hilf, longtime CEO of Paul Allen's holding company, Vale Group (formerly Vulcan Inc.), is stepping down at the end of May.
- The company, now called Vale Group, will not replace Hilf as CEO. The current leadership team will handle day-to-day operations, reporting to Paul Allen's sister, Jody Allen.
- Hilf has been in discussions with Jody Allen about a leadership transition for some time. After a series of divestitures and spin-offs, the company now has around 140 employees.
