GTA Trilogy Gets Big Surprise Update That Makes It Much Better
- Rockstar Games has made updates to the remastered Grand Theft Auto games in the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition collection to improve their gameplay and make them look more like the original versions.
- The updates include new lighting options that make games look more like the PS2 originals, bug fixes and visual changes like better-looking high altitude clouds in San Andreas and bloom added to streetlights in cities.
- The update also allows players to run around while aiming with any gun and improves the rain in the remastered trilogy.
- Rockstar Games has removed Grove Street Games' logo from the splash screens of each game and updated the maps to be more accurate and show all landmasses and streets correctly.
- The updates are currently available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, players on PS4, Xbox One, or Switch do not have access to them.
- The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition collection contains remasters of three PS2-era Rockstar titles — GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas.
- The games were criticized upon their November 2021 release for playing poorly, containing many bugs, poor character models and textures, and feeling unfinished overall.
- The updated version allows players to enjoy the original games on modern hardware with some quality-of-life improvements like autosave and a weapon wheel.
