AWS CodeBuild for macOS adds support for Fastlane

Fastlane is now available on AWS CodeBuild's macOS environment which helps automate mobile app development processes including app submission, code signing, beta distribution and screenshot generation.
By integrating Fastlane, AWS CodeBuild reduces the need for manual installation by automatically installing it by default and allowing the use of familiar commands, making Fastlane much more accessible for all kinds of development teams.
Fastlane, due to its syntax and package management system can be complicated to configure and maintain, making it a time-consuming challenge for unfamiliar teams.
AWS CodeBuild removes the undifferentiated heavy lifting allowing focus on important aspects of the business while also providing automation capabilities to its users.
Fastlane and code signing can be made quite complex with the requirements of private key sharing between teams and distribution private key availability. Fastlane helps manage these processes through the use of its match tool which allows storage and secure access to private keys and mobile provisioning profiles.
The sharing of secret values through GitHub, GitLab, Google Cloud Storage, Azure DevOps and Amazon Simple Storage Service is possible with the match function through AWS CodeBuild's macOS environments.
Setting up AWS Codebuild with Fastlane can be done in three steps. Import your existing signing materials, configure Fastlane to sign the project and configure CodeBuild to use Fastlane.
Fastlane is now pre-installed at no additional cost on all macOS images AWS CodeBuild uses.
Configuration of fastlane match can be tricky, but getting it right before using it on AWS CodeBuild is essential, triple-checking the values of environment variables and privacy requirements.
AWS CodeBuild with Fastlane support is available in US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Europe (Frankfurt).

Texas brings the ban hammer down on DeepSeek and RedNote

Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, has banned state employees from downloading, installing, or using several Chinese applications on government-sanctioned devices.
The banned Chinese AI and social media apps include DeepSeek, RedNote, Lemon8, as well as Chinese stock-trading platforms like Moomoo, Tiger Brokers, and Webull.
Governor Abbott cited data privacy and national security concerns as the reasons behind the ban.
Texas is the first U.S. state to ban DeepSeek, which has also been banned by the U.S. Navy, Congress, the Pentagon, the Finance Ministry, and NASA, among others.

China-based AI start-up DeepSeek is facing a privacy controversy after hidden code was uncovered that enables direct data transmission to China Mobile servers, which is blacklisted in the US.
The Ontario-based cybersecurity firm Feroot Security discovered the hidden code and raised concerns about the potential unauthorized access to customer data, which could pose a risk to US national security.
DeepSeek, a chatbot developed at a fraction of the cost of US rivals, quickly gained popularity and topped the app store download charts before being banned in several countries due to national security concerns.
Countries such as Italy, Australia, Taiwan, and the US are already imposing bans on DeepSeek, while other nations like Belgium, France, Ireland, South Korea, India, and the Netherlands are considering similar actions due to privacy and security infringements.

AI and the cloud in focus for Wall Street as analysts grow bullish ahead of earnings

Wall Street investors are expecting solid results from the tech giant Amazon as the company prepares to publish fourth-quarter earnings after the bell on Thursday. The firm's strong holiday demand and ad revenue growth are among the positive drivers. Amazon's cloud-computing platform, AWS, is one key driver of growth both in Q4 and throughout 2025.
Following Amazon's earnings report, BofA expects investors will focus on AWS growth, AI scaling, and 2025 expenditure outlooks. Deutsche Bank is bullish on cloud demand. As well as a beat driven by the US customer backdrop and increased demand for AI, AWS margins and retail gross profit per unit should outpace expectations, making $21 billion in operating income look achievable to the bank.
Wedbush Securities expects Amazon to deliver $20.7 billion in Q4's operating income, 9% above consensus estimates. The company has exceeded initial 2024 income expectations by over 40%, and analysts expect Amazon to repeat its performance. Most notable are the firm's retail efficiency gains and strong US holiday period. Wedbush increased its price target to $280, almost 20% above current levels.
Research analyst Brian Nowak says Amazon's warehouse business uses robotics to increase efficiencies across storage, inventory management, sorting, and outbound order processes. Automation could have a significant impact on long-term earnings before interest and taxes potential, as fulfillment costs account for almost 20% of revenue. Morgan Stanley analysts expect the company's robotics advancement to unlock $10 billion in savings by 2030.
Improving ad-spend growth in Q4 is a positive trend for e-commerce, and consumer spending is normalizing, which is positive for Amazon. Both staples and discretionary products show pricing improvements, pointing to a healthier consumer environment, according to Mizuho analysts.
Bank of America predicts Amazon will beat operating profit estimates at $19.7 billion, with $187 billion in quarterly sales. Deutsche Bank has set a $275 price target on Amazon, an almost 17% increase from current levels. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley holds an 'Overweight' rating on Amazon, with a $280 price target indicating a 19% increase from current levels. Finally, Mizuho has set its price target at $285, almost 20% higher than current levels.

Can the 5070 Ti offer a big upgrade over the 4070 Ti?

The Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti is the next big graphics card launch for this new-generation of Blackwell GPUs.
The RTX 5070 Ti price is likely to be far higher around launch, and stock levels may be very low.
The RTX 5070 Ti represents a modest upgrade over the 4070 Ti in raw specifications.
The higher overall memory bandwidth is encouraging, though, even if it all comes at the light cost of an additional 15W of power — somewhat showcasing Blackwell’s efficiency.
Until we test the new 5070 Ti ourselves and the review embargo is lifted, we can’t say for sure just how well the new card will perform compared to its predecessor, or its slightly-faster Super successor.
The RTX 5070 Ti isn’t here yet and we just don’t know how good it will be, yet.
The addition of DLSS 4 and multi frame generation is great, but it’s not going to make it worth upgrading from the 40-series.
The pricing and stock is strong, then the 5070 Ti is likely to be a decent card to buy if you’re running an older 20-series or 30-series GPU and want better 1440p ray tracing performance.
For anyone else, it’s probably best to wait and see.
Not just what the RTX 5070 Ti can do, but what the AMD RX 9070 and 9070 XT can offer in competition when they debut in March.
