AMD explains why RX 9070 GPUs won’t arrive until March – and this has got me more excited for RDNA 4, I’ve got to admit

AMD has announced that its RX 9070 graphics cards will release in March 2025 rather than earlier in Q1. AMD is working to optimise its software stack for maximum performance, bring more PC games into the fold of being supported by FSR 4 and ensuring plenty of RX 9070 stock is on hand.
David McAfee on X, AMD’s VP and GM, stated that the company is 'taking a little extra time to optimize the software stack for maximum performance and enable more FSR 4 titles'.
The announcement from McAfee indirectly confirmed that some retail partners had already ordered and received RX 9070 models, which explains some photo leaks and also assures that there’ll be plenty of RDNA 4 stock available.
AMD is also focusing on making the RX 9070 launch as good as it can be, in terms of FSR, drivers, and stock availability.
AMD has switched strategy to take the time to get its hardware fully right, rather than rushing out products when the market demands them to arrive.
Under Jack Huynh, Senior VP of Computing and Graphics, AMD has taken a patient approach to product development, which fully makes sense given the overall market situation.
AMD's RX 9070 graphic card release being held back until March is spun positively, allowing the company to focus on ensuring FSR software is supported and there is more inventory stock on hand, so the release is not hindered like Nvidia's RTX 5000 series.
The RX 9070 model release by AMD in March 2025 indicates that there will be an ample inventory of the GPUs when retail sales kick off officially.
Gamers will have to be patient and wait for the new AMD graphic card release, which according to Moore's Law is Dead, is not a cause for concern, as AMD decides to invest in taking the time to get the RDNA 4 GPUs fully right, rather than rushing out products when the market demands them to arrive.
AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs are expected to come with RDNA 4 architecture, navy flounder, 3D Vertical Cache, chiplet design, and support DDR5 memory.

What power supply do you need for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080?

Nvidia's RTX 50-series GPUs require PSUs that meet or exceed recommended specifications to avoid crashes, ensure system stability, and maintain long-term reliability. The flagship RTX 5090 comes with a maximum TGP (Total Graphics Power) of 575W, while the RTX 5080 is listed to draw up to 360W. These demands are higher when compared to the RTX 40-series. Board partner models may arrive with slightly higher power requirements depending on their overclocking capabilities.
Nvidia recommends at least a 1000W PSU for its RTX 5090 for most systems, depending on your other hardware. For RTX 5080, an 850W PSU should suffice though a larger PSU of 1000W or above may be required for overclocking.

Nvidia RTX 5090 review: fast, but not nearly twice as fast

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 is the best graphics card you can buy. Alongside flagship gaming performance per the numbers, it introduces an entirely new architecture, DLSS 4, and the era of neural rendering with new transformer model featuring DLSS Multi-Frame Generation (exclusive for RTX 50-series GPUs). It brings 32GB of GDDR7 memory that helps AI workloads. It offers 30% faster performance improvement over RTX 4090, but is 25% more expensive. The CPU bottleneck becomes more extreme at 1440p, pushing it down to just a 22% lead over RTX 4090. The idea of using an RTX 5090 at 1080p is a little silly, but it is still valuable to analyze its performance. Nvidia's DLSS 4 does some magical things with its neural-rendering algorithm but needs to be fed with a base frame rate of 60 fps to provide the best experience.
DLSS 4 introduces Multi-Frame Generation, which generates up to 4X frame in 75 games on day one, in addition to DisplayPort 2.1 and 4:2:2 encoding. The improvements in ray tracing are not as large as expected, despite Nvidia having 'solved' real-time ray tracing, but the RTX 5090 still comfortably crosses 60 fps threshold at native 4K level. Cyberpunk 2077 supports RT Overdrive preset, but it shows DLSS 4's limitations when used with Moving Frame generation at low base frame rate. Marvel Rivals' DLSS Override feature, on the other hand, shows the best of DLSS 4. For its exorbitant price of $2,000, the parties thinking of upgrading from an RTX 4090 could consider getting high value from DLSS 4 without upgrading to the RTX 5090.
