Fantastical is now available on Windows

Fantastical, the popular calendar and to-do app, is now available on Windows.
The Windows version of Fantastical has been released as part of the 4.0 upgrade after being requested by customers for workplace use.
Fantastical for Windows supports the same features as its iPhone, iPad, and Mac counterparts, including natural language input, calendar availability sharing, and support for popular calendar services.
Fantastical for Windows can be downloaded from the Windows Store, and a Fantastical Premium subscription is required to unlock all features.

The preferred way to install and manage Java JDKs on Linux

Java is already installed on some Linux distros by default, but usually just the JRE is installed and not the JDK.
To verify if Java is installed, the 'java' command can be checked, and if JDK isn't installed, the 'javac' command won't be found.
Fedora stores JREs/JDKs within /usr/lib/jvm. Look into its contents or query the available Java version installed in your system.
To install OpenJDK, you can use Fedora's package manager 'dnf'. Use 'dnf search jdk' to get a list of available Java versions and package variants.
To install the full JDK with all the necessary tools for Java development, you need the development variant of the package. It usually contains the '-devel' term suffix in the name for dnf.
Oracle JDK can be installed by visiting the official Oracle SE Downloads page and downloading the appropriate package for your platform. It can be installed by double-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Install.
It is possible to work with multiple Java installations on Linux, and the 'update-alternatives' command manages the symbolic links comprising the alternatives system.
To switch among available alternatives of a command, use 'sudo update-alternatives --config' followed by the command name.
The 'JAVA_HOME' environment variable can be set to the JDK folder path, and the binaries within 'JAVA_HOME' like 'java' and 'javac' can be added to PATH.
Manually setting the configuration through your shell profile should not be needed if you use the update-alternatives method to manage Java installations.

USB-C Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad

Apple has announced updated versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad that are now equipped with USB-C charging ports.
Unfortunately, these peripherals are still only able to pair with one Mac at a time and cannot switch between Macs in software.
The charging port on the Magic Mouse remains on its belly, meaning it cannot be used while it charges.
Apple sees the inability to use the Magic Mouse while plugged in as a feature, not a bug, encouraging users to utilize it wirelessly.
Although a low-battery notification system is available, users report they are not effective and show up late, if at all.
There is no fundamental iteration on the USB-C Magic Mouse design, which has remained unchanged for over 16 years.
The USB-C Magic Keyboard is available, and a Lightning version of the Magic Keyboard with a Numeric Keypad is part of Apple's product line.
Many users would like to see more developments for the Magic Mouse, such as haptics, Qi charging support, or customization of low-battery notifications.
Apple's decision to continue to position the charging port on the underside of the Magic Mouse has been noted as ridiculous despite the trade-offs of charging wirelessly.
There is still a Lightning version of the Magic Keyboard available, which lacks a Touch ID button.

Apple recently launched the M4 iMac, which looks similar to its predecessor, but has many internal upgrades. The M4 iMac brings a faster chip and is better in performance over the M3 iMac that launched less than a year ago. The dimensions and design of the M3 and M4 are the same, but the new model comes in more playful colors, with the entry-level version available in any of the seven colors. Both models have a 24-inch Retina display with a 500-nit brightness, but you can configure the M4 with nano-texture glass to reduce glare.
The M4 iMac features an M4 chip that offers a big leap in performance and efficiency, is fabricated on TSMC’s latest 3nm node and offers a ‘world’s fastest CPU core’ along with 8-core CPU and GPU. The M4 iMac also comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard, which enables it to run multiple apps smoothly. Additionally, the M4 chip’s faster Neural Engine will enable the iMac to process Apple Intelligence and other AI/ML tasks faster.
The video calling experience gets a significant upgrade on the new iMac, with a front 12MP camera that is a significant step up from the M3 iMac’s 1080p sensor and has Center Stage. The M4 iMac also supports Desk View, which simultaneously shows the user and a top-down view of their desk.
Despite many updates, the M4 iMac still carries the same starting price of $1,299 as its predecessor.
The M4 iMac provides better performance than its predecessor and brings improved AI/ML tasks with faster processing. Also, the video calling experience has been significantly improved. However, none of the updates are significant enough for an M3 iMac owner to upgrade. But, if you have an M1 iMac and find it struggling, upgrading to the M4 iMac could be well worth it.
Those who own an Intel-based iMac can benefit greatly from upgrading to the M4 iMac, which provides a massive performance leap and has support for Apple Intelligence.

On Tuesday, Apple announced the new Mac mini powered by M4 and M4 Pro chips and designed around Apple silicon for superior performance, which is also its first carbon neutral Mac having achieved over a 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Measuring just 5 by 5 inches, this updated compact model is enabled by powerful Apple silicon and an innovative thermal architecture, which guides air to different levels of the system while venting through the foot, marking it as a tiny powerhouse.
With M4, Apple claims the new Mac mini delivers up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance over the M1 model. For more convenient connectivity, the front and back include USB-C ports and for the first time includes Thunderbolt 5 for faster data transfer speeds on the M4 Pro model.
Mac mini with M4 features a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and now starts with 16GB of unified memory. Users will feel the performance of M4 in everything they do, from multitasking across everyday productivity apps to creative projects like video editing and music production.
Mac mini with M4 Pro features up to 20 cores, including 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores, GPU up to twice as powerful as the GPU in M4, and both chips bring hardware-accelerated ray tracing to the Mac mini for the first time. The Neural Engine in M4 Pro is also over 3x faster than in Mac mini with M1.
Mac mini with M4 Pro supports Thunderbolt 5, which delivers up to 120 Gb/s data transfer speeds on Mac mini, and more than doubles the throughput of Thunderbolt 4. It also supports up to 64GB of unified memory and 273GB/s of memory bandwidth for accelerating AI workloads.
The new Mac mini includes a wide array of ports, such as three Thunderbolt 4 ports and an HDMI port on the back, and two USB-C ports and an audio jack on the front. The Mac mini offers Gigabit Ethernet, with availability beginning November 8.

Indonesia has banned the sale of Apple’s latest iPhone 16 models within the country as the company failed to meet local investment.
