Bitcoin ‘Creator’ Craig Wright Repeatedly Lied, Rules UK Judge
- Australian computer scientist, Craig Wright has been found to have lied extensively and repeatedly by a UK judge after he claimed he was the inventor of Bitcoin.
- Craig Wright was taken to court by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) who referred to in court documents as the self-proclaimed inventor of Bitcoin to stop him suing Bitcoin developers.
- Craig Wright had been using English libel law to sue people who denied he was the inventor of Bitcoin and who called him a fraud.
- COPA asked for a ruling that Dr Wright was not the individual behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto who created Bitcoin.
- Mr Justice Mellor gave the reasons for his conclusions on Monday stating in a lengthy written ruling that Wright is not nearly as clever as he thinks he is.
- Mr Justice Mellor also said that Wright’s actions in suing developers and his expressed views about Bitcoin also pointed against him being Satoshi.
- Despite the overwhelming evidence, Craig Wright has stated that he fully intends to appeal the decision of the court on the matter of the identity issue.
- Bitcoin, the revolutionary digital currency, was created by an enigmatic figure or group, known only by the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto, who vanished from the scene in 2011.
- Many Bitcoin skeptics believe that the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto no longer matters to Bitcoin, which is based on an open-source protocol.
