IKEA revives popular 1970s shelf by Niels Gammelgaard in Nytillverkad vintage collection

IKEA is set to reintroduce ten vintage designs, including products by Niels Gammelgaard, in its sixth Nytillverkad collection of reissues.
Gammelgaard's 1978 Guide shelf, renamed Enetri and now known as Byakorre, is one of the offerings that IKEA is reintroducing.
Guide is an open shelving unit with a galvanised steel frame. The particleboard shelves are reversible, and shelf edges come in plain white or other bright colours depending on the placement.
The machine making laminate boards for Guide could change colours at no extra cost, which designer Gammelgaard exploited.
Other products in the collection include chairs by Gammelgaard, a bench by Erik Wørts, two sets of bed linen, and glass vases.
Reintroducing these products proves their durability and functional design that has stood the test of time, according to Gammelgaard.
The Nytillverkad products will launch globally in February 2025.
IKEA is reintroducing proven products from the 60s, 70s, and 80s to capitalize on their enduring appeal.
The Guide shelf is famously popular with collectors and fans of modernist design, commanding prices upwards of £800 despite its original retail price being just €65.
The latest Nytillverkad collection includes various products, such as Lundgren's Tajt chair and a rerelease of the Novette bench by Erik Wørts.
