AMD declares battle of Ryzen 9950X3D vs 9800X3D for gaming will be a dead heat – so gamers may as well buy the cheaper CPU

AMD has unveiled two new processors, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the 9900X3D, and according to Product and Business Development Manager Martijn Boonstra, they will offer similar overall gaming performance to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Boonstra has said there will be some give and take, where the Ryzen 9 chips will be slightly faster in certain scenarios and the Ryzen 7 9800X3D edging victory in others.
The Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D were unveiled at CES 2025 earlier in January and are expected to be available soon, but pricing is yet to be confirmed.
Regarding the specs of Ryzen 9 9950X3D, it provides 16 cores and 32 threads, whereas 9800X3D has 8 cores and 16 threads, but it seems the company is not counting on dramatically improved gaming performance.
AMD is addressing gamers by suggesting that they can opt for a cheaper Ryzen 7 9800X3D, as the gaming performance is nearly the same as the upcoming Ryzen 9 series.
However, Ryzen 9 processors are designed as dual-use processors, meaning they can also cut through heavyweight and are also great for creatives.
The Ryzen 8 series AMD processors remain popular and difficult to purchase at MSRP, so some PC gamers might be interested in considering the Ryzen 9 series processors to pull the trigger on an X3D purchase for their new gaming PC or upgrade.
Initially, the Ryzen 9 series processors will be priced much higher, but with time they will come down.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the 9900X3D both have 3D V-Cache processor technology, which will have 144MB and 104MB, respectively.
In conclusion, if a gamer seeks better performance with heavyweight applications and gaming, then Ryzen 9 series processors are for them. But, if one needs a processor only for gaming, then the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor is the best fit, as it is more affordable and delivers similar performance.

To fix this issue, explicitly specify the region when building the AmazonS3 client using the .withRegion() method.
If you prefer not to hardcode the region, you can rely on the default region provider chain, which determines the region automatically.

MasterCard DNS Error Went Unnoticed for Years

MasterCard recently corrected a glaring error in its domain name server settings that had persisted for nearly five years; a security researcher spent $300 to register the domain and prevent it from being grabbed by cybercriminals.
The misconfiguration occurred on one of MasterCard's core Internet servers that direct traffic for portions of the mastercard.com network, effectively allowing DNS traffic to be intercepted or diverted.
All of the Akamai DNS server names that MasterCard uses are supposed to end in “akam.net” but one of them was misconfigured to rely on the domain “akam.ne”.
Caturegli spent nearly three months waiting for the domain to be secured with the registry in Niger after discovering the misconfiguration which had left MasterCard vulnerable to potential security breaches.
MasterCard acknowledged the mistake and said there was never any real threat to the security of its operations. 'We have looked into the matter and there was not a risk to our systems,” a spokesperson told reporters. “This typo has now been corrected',
Caturegli alerted MasterCard that the domain was theirs if they wanted it, rather than abusing his access, obtaining website encryption certificates or Windows authentication credentials.
Caturegli had hoped MasterCard would feature, or at least cover the cost to buy the domain. He believes that users are relying on public traffic forwarders or DNS resolvers like Cloudflare and Google.
The fundamentally cautionary tale: Don’t dismiss risk, and don’t let your marketing team handle security disclosures.
Registered previously by someone using the email address [email protected], the domain was left to expire in 2018
This is interesting as another typo domain was registered to [email protected] and hosted at the same ISP, Team Internet (AS61969)

Nvidia RTX 5090 and 5080 GPU stock shortage rumors are piling high – and now there’s a suggestion the RTX 5070 could be delayed

Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs, casting doubt on stock levels (again) and also the pricing of the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080
RTX 5090 and 5080 will be short on supply due to some communication issues between Nvidia and AIC partners.
The Chinese New Year is also another issue and may cause slowdowns in factories leading to shortage but expected to improve in February.
RTX 5070 Ti will appear in mid-to-late February whereas RTX 5070 may not be available until early March.
Consumers might have to pay increased prices for Blackwell GPUs initially, even to the tune of them being doubled.
There might be a delay in RTX 5070 model, but it seems unlikely that Nvidia would break the promise of launching in February.
There’s always the prospect of a so-called 'paper launch' with hardly any boards released initially.
AMD has just announced that its RX 9070 models won’t launch until March, much later than expected.
Take all this with a wheelbarrow full of salt, and remember that AMD purportedly has its own issues to sort out around RX 9070 pricing.
I’m not going to buy these suggestions of an RTX 5070 delay – at least not until we hear this from other corners of the rumor mill.
