Epic detail plans for Unreal Engine 6 and share vision of a metaverse spanning "Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite"

Epic are working on Unreal Engine 6 as a "gigantic", interoperable metaverse platform that combines Unreal Engine with Fortnite's Unreal Editor.
The project follows Unreal Fest conference in Seattle and will take several years to arrive.
Epic will soon open the Fab digital assets marketplace, which will host assets that can work even in non-Unreal-Engine games, such as Minecraft and Roblox.
According to CEO Tim Sweeney, "having seamless movement of content from place to place is going to be one of the critical things that makes the metaverse work without duplication."
Epic's current testcase for interoperable content is the collaborative entertainment universe they are creating for Disney.
The company has had no discussions yet with other publishers beyond Disney about interoperability.
Sweeney believes that companies should set up a revenue sharing scheme so that all can prosper from 'the same' asset being sold for use in several games.
Epic's overall aim is to create a smooth and seamlessly enterprise Metaverse that will enable developers to sell stuff that can be transferred to games that run on Unreal Engine or not.
Epic is soon to release the Fab digital assets marketplace, which will allow assets this irrespective of what type of game they are designed to work on.
The company has yet to discuss new partners regarding interoperability, but Saxs Persson has said there is no reason why they couldn't have a federated way to flow between Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite.
