AI in Art: Everything You Should Know About Its Role and Future

  • AI in art is boosting creativity, automating processes, and generating unique works. It also collaborates with artists to generate new possibilities and blurring boundaries between human and machine creativity.
  • AI is a powerful creative tool but opinions differ on its true level of creativity and originality. AI is seen as an engine for the imagination by some creatives.
  • Applications of AI in art are generative AI, style transfer, enhancing artistic processes, personalized and predictive design.
  • One of the major concerns in this domain is the Pandora's box of ethical and philosophical questions sprouting up with the use of AI, which also raises questions around the ownership, creativity, privacy, and bias in artworks. Additionally, there are worries that AI-generated art might strip away the personal, emotional touch that makes human art unique.
  • While AI is overhauling the world of art and design, there are still some concerns like technological constraints, risks of over-reliance formal training, fair compensation for artists, and changes in the job market.
  • However, AI in Art and Design is also opening up exciting possibilities, such as Interactive Art with AR and VR, AI as curators in Museums and Galleries, Personalized Art and Design, and expanding AI’s influence beyond traditional art.
  • In a future where AI is both artist and the medium, the creative possibilities are limitless, and we're only scratching the surface of what can be done with the aid of AI.

Home Sports Review-In-Progress: Jack Of All Trades

  • Home Sports from Resolution Games is a collection of mixed reality sports games for Quest 3 that feels shallow but still fun.
  • It covers both solo and multiplayer across five sports, including pickleball, hockey, bowling, mini golf, and badminton.
  • While mixed reality support is entertaining, it doesn't always work well due to VR hardware limitations.
  • The individual sports games include drills that offer different challenges, with Pickleball and Hockey being the best games in the collection.
  • Bowling offers a basic but enjoyable recreation of the game. But Home Sports doesn't dive deep into any of them and lacks excitement.
  • Comfort settings in Home Sports are minimal, and five size settings can be selected for your play area, which you can also rotate.
  • Career Mode offers over 50 different challenges that are held together by a serviceable narrative.
  • Multiplayer support is available both locally via co-location and online.
  • Home Sports ends up feeling shallow, but it's visually appealing, and mixed reality support works well, making it a decent collection of games.
  • It's a family-friendly game, and we'll revisit this Home Sports review with multiplayer thoughts.

Skydance’s Behemoth review: ambitious VR adventure doesn’t quite stand tall

  • Skydance’s Behemoth is a new VR action-adventure game, and it’s certainly the most memorable.
  • Combat has a good, physical flow that is primarily defense- and counter-oriented.
  • Behemoth’s levels offer teases of what’s to come.
  • Behemoth does offer a surprisingly decent selection of armaments, such as swords, daggers, axes, bows, and shields.
  • While battles can be uneven, exploration in Behemoth is a rewarding experience throughout.
  • Skydance is no stranger to developing VR games, having released The Walking Dead.
  • Behemoth does not have a long game, as you can clear the campaign in under 10 hours.
  • Despite advertising so many big bosses, Behemoth’s biggest disappointment is that there are too few of them.
  • It's a bit of a shame to get so few bosses, considering that they’re the adventure’s main selling point.
  • The promising VR premise never quite reaches the heights of its towering title.

Cognitive Cities: Blending AI, AR & the Built Environment

  • A cognitive city must understand an individual’s needs, adapt city systems and infrastructure and provide personalized city services that are trusted and secure.
  • AI is central to building a secure, accurate, and private model of the individual while AR provides a human-centric, natural and seamless interface to these personalized cognitive services.
  • The combination of AI and AR will drive the creation of completely new mixed-reality experiences that don't exist today.
  • These capabilities should be fully embedded in the built environment from the planning and design phase.
  • The full integration of AI, AR, and built environment can be achieved through a city operating system, which integrates these capabilities with the physical infrastructure.
  • Unseen wonders could be loaded from our collective imaginations to populate cognitive cities like fireworks from our AR+AI boosters, allowing us to create epic mixed-reality experiences.
  • Wireless power points located throughout the city will remove the need to carry heavy battery packs.
  • The City Operating System coordinates and provides equitable access to all features, implementing a software architecture that eliminates the need for multiple software upgrades.
  • Cognitive cities could be one valuable endpoint from the many ways that AI, AR, IoT, and several other technologies are converging.
  • It will be a developing story as these technologies, and others that emerge, continue to evolve in parallel.

  • Skarred revealed that while attending CES for real has been a dream of his, there have always been obstacles which had previously prevented him from going. He initially started virtually covering the event because of financial constraints, but more recently personal or work-related issues had kept him from the exhibition.
  • Skarred is also looking to see what parties he can attend during CES and mentioned his fondness for free food, stating that events aren't quite the same without it. The writer called his trip a “personal best CES” and touched on the fact that it is his first year attending the event, asking readers for tips on what companies or products to look out for.
